Frequently Asked questions

Your journey to finding the ideal bookkeeper should be easy and painless.  Below is a list of questions and answers that you may find helpful.

A CPA and a bookkeeper have quite different roles.  The CPA uses the information in the books to prepare your tax return.  A bookkeeper is going to make sure that your books are accurate and up to date on a regular basis so when it’s time to hand over the financial statements at the end of the year, your CPA has solid numbers to use for tax preparation.

We are experienced with QuickBooks Online and Desktop.

There is an engagement letter which outlines the scope of work that we agree on to be performed, but no contracts – you receive services on a month-to-month basis.

Services are paid on a month-to-month basis, however, there are some instances when a one-time fee would be charged such as initial setup/training with bookkeeping or payroll and historical clean-ups.

Yes!  We make sure your bills are paid on time each month so you never have a late payment again.

We assist with making sure all income is accounted for and reconciled against the bank statement, however, we do not send invoices to your clients on your behalf.  One of the great features offered by QuickBooks is automatic invoicing.  We provide training on how to setup recurring transactions and how to receive payments through the QuickBooks Merchant Center.

Although we do not do tax prep, we do work with some remarkable CPA’s who can assist with your tax needs.  If you prefer to use your own CPA, we will make sure your books are kept accurate and up to date throughout the year so that they are ready for your tax preparer at year end.

This question can be answered in two parts.  Any business that generates at least $100,000 in annual revenue and has less than 50 employees.  Second, any business that offers services, as opposed to selling products, and has little to no inventory is service-based.

Absolutely!  We agree QuickBooks should receive a 5 out of 5 for being so user-friendly.  However, it is beneficial to have someone with a solid accounting background taking care of your books to ensure minimal mistakes.  We make sure transactions are recorded to the appropriate accounts, journal entries are entered as necessary and monthly financial statements are generated to reflect each month’s activity.
